In the Mercado Medieval de Alhama highlight crafts (17/04/2009)

This year the medieval market town of Alhama de Murcia promises to be a true meeting of artisans, this year the City has invited Amata, an association of artisans, to organize the event.

Thanks to the great variety of stalls and side events, the whole family can spend a very pleasant hours in the market.

The offer includes demonstrations of old crafts, children's workshops, performances, troubadours, a faquiris and a juggler and fire shows with live nightly.

Amata association is doing everything possible to reestablish medieval markets to showcase worthy of authentic crafts.

It is not enough to decorate the streets, filling them with jobs and provide good entertainment program: you also need to pay close attention to craftsmanship that is offered in the stands.

Amata in markets not covered stalls with imported products that can be found in any bazaar - participants can only sell products made with their own hands.

Alhama market expected a quarantine stalls, all carefully selected to so offer a wide range of quality crafts: silver and enamel jewelry, leather bags, shoes and sandals, hand-woven shawls, turning wood, ceramics and stained glass, wooden toys and puppets.

Since the same artisans who are in the post, you can make custom orders and in many cases at the moment!

There is no shortage of posts with traditional products such as cheeses, cured meats and sweets, an area of taverns, where a whole pig is roasted over the coals, and a medieval-style wood-fired oven.

The blacksmith will work on a forge old, while children can make their own piece of craft in the workshops: a bowl, a bracelet or a puppet.

The troubadours of the group Sol Redó encourage the market with its medieval music and accompany the fakir and the juggler in his performances.

The Medieval Market is mounted on the Plaza de la Constitution (follow the arrows from the inputs of the town) and opens on Saturday 25 and Sunday April 26th from 11 until 14 hrs and evenings from the 17 hrs.
