Begin campaigning against fruit fly (23/05/2008)

Alhama City Council advises that it has launched the campaign against fruit fly in table grape crops, initiating the distribution of bait and insecticide to select and place the traps in the field concerned.

In the first stage material is distributed for the earliest varieties (higher Sugraone, prime, flame, etc.) Later, shall be allocated for other varieties.

The mayor of agriculture, Alfonso Fernando Cerón, with Alfonso Lucas, Plant Protection Service of the Autonomous Region, gave a news conference all the information.

From Monday 26 until 6 June 9-12 hours in the municipal warehouse, farmers are cultivating the earliest varieties of the municipalities of Alhama, Librilla, Mazarron and Fuente Alamo, may withdraw products for combat the scourge.

The mayor noted that from July it will begin the campaign against the same insect but later varieties and citrus.

Farmers who have participated in this campaign in other years, only to be presented in the local store with the ID of the owner of the production.

Those who do so for the first time must first be passed by the District Agricultural Office.

For its part, Alfonso Lucas was a warning to farmers asking them to begin the process as soon as possible since it is necessary to end quickly with the fly.

Furthermore, insecticides for other varieties begin to share the 15-20 June 2008.


Those already retired material (bait and insecticide) for vine last year, only have to pass through the point of withdrawal enabled for each area or region, with the ID of who is the owner of the farm, and remove the bait and insecticide they are entitled.

These farmers do not have to make any new document.

Farmers who join for the first time this year, must pass through to the regional office in your area land and complete the application form so that there will validate and write the number of traps that have to buy.

Once purchased, the application and proof of purchase, will pick up the bait and insecticide which they are entitled, by the distribution point in your area.


The material to be delivered has 120 days' duration (4 months).

To maximize performance, must be field installed on the following criteria:

Early Grapes: immediately, in all those varieties that are to be collected until the end of August.

Grapes late: for varieties that are to be collected between September and November, the placement must be done in late June or early July, ensuring that in any case, are placed about three and a half months before harvest, so to clear from the plots as soon as possible, as many adult fruit fly, thus reducing the risk of damage to the grapes.

And insecticide baits are delivered, require no manipulation.

simply install them into the traps without more, as they open, torn or cut, they lose their action in a few days, resulting in this diminished their effectiveness.
