The City Council of Alhama de Murcia, through the departments of Citizenship and Finance has undertaken to promote a participatory process in developing the 2015 Municipal Budget, trying to approach the concept of "participatory budgeting" as participatory tool that allows citizens to review and issue proposals for the municipal budget, so that the local government to set priorities, based on the main demands and concerns of the neighbors on spending generally (activities, public investments ..).

So it has opened a consultation period and receiving suggestions ending May 31, 2014.

This has been a banner installed on the municipal website under the "participatory budget 2015", which leads to a form in which any citizen can participate by providing suggestions in different areas of Municipal Budget:

IMPROVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES: cultural centers, social services, employment, women, sports halls, ...

IMPROVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF OTHER PUBLIC SPACES: streets, squares, gardens, rural roads, lighting, signage, ..

-CULTURAL PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES OF TYPE.

-SPORTS PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES OF TYPE.

-PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES RELATED TO TRAINING, EMPLOYMENT AND THE ECONOMY (industry, trade, tourism,.)

-PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES AIMED AT THE YOUNG AND OLDER.

-PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES AIMED AT WOMEN.

-PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES FOR HEALTH PROMOTION.

-AWARENESS PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES AND IMPROVING THE ENVIRONMENT.

-PROGRAMMES FOR SOCIAL SERVICES.

-PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES FOR LEISURE AND CELEBRATIONS.

-GRANTS AND AGREEMENTS WITH ASSOCIATIONS & NGOs

This was approved at the meeting of the local board of Citizen Participation that took place on April 1.

During June the government team will analyze and assess the various contributions of citizens and try to collect those considered highest priority, taking into account budgetary constraints.

Therefore the aim is to launch an open, enabling the direct participation of all residents, surpassing logic representative participation, which is limited to the act of voting every 4 years, a process that would undoubtedly improve Communication between administration and citizens, creating spaces for dialogue between politicians and neighbors.
