The City of Alhama honors rural women creating the first day dedicated to it (26/09/2013)

The Department of Women aims to promote and encourage equal opportunities for all women, whatever their areas.

Precisely for this reason the city of Alhama de Murcia through the Department of Women has organized the First Day of Rural Women Living.

Lola Canovas, responsible for the area this morning the initiative originated in the Women's Advisory Council.

The mayor pointed out that rural women have played a key role throughout history, supporting the family and society.

It also added that in the middle S.XXI, rural women must adapt to meet new challenges today.

On the other hand, said that due to the current crisis has slowed the process to achieve real equality, even slower process in rural areas.

To honor rural women, explained the mayor, organized on 15 October, Rural Women's Day, the First Day Living in El Berro, only district of the town in which there is an association of women.

It has also encouraged all women from other villages to enjoy this day together and have lent their support and that of the district to other districts in Alhama (up to five) are formed women's associations.

The programming of the day

The event will begin at 11:30 am with reception and guided tour of the "Lavaores Step".
