The City Council launches the "Green Family Gardens" (02/05/2012)

The Municipality of Alhama, through the Department of Environment has launched an initiative dubbed with the name "Organic Family Gardens."

Diego Huertas, head of the area, reveals the first steps to implement these gardens, which, as expected, may be delivered in September.

To do this, we moved to the land surrounding the house of Ral, owned by the Church as well as land that will be launched orchards.

The area is now abandoned and water available.

After several efforts, reported the mayor, the Church will give the land that they want to convert into a garden.

In the extension of the available, are expected to draw more than sixty plots of about sixty meters square.

Each will be awarded preferably to retirees who are interested.

It also will launch a larger parcels which are eligible partnerships.

The idea, he claimed the mayor, is to provide people who have no land space in which to grow their own vegetables, as well as through organic farming.

To do this, the Department has made contact with "hotbed" of Alhama, a regional association aimed at promoting and facilitating a network of green consumption between producers and consumers, and healthy eating.

It will be the hand of "the hotbed" as the winners of the lands will learn how to grow their crops in a green and healthy.

For this, the Department of Environment is preparing the groundwork for the allocation of plots in the belief that this initiative will appeal to residents and will be an important step not only for ecological and healthy consumption but also for the coexistence family.
