Thanks to the implementation of this project in different municipalities of the Region of Murcia, the schools of Alhama have joined this program promoted by Ecoembes to achieve an educational community more committed to the circular economy.

The work focuses on encouraging recycling in the day to day of certain public primary schools in the region involving the entire educational community: students, teachers and non-teaching staff of schools.

The City Council of Alhama de Murcia, through Ecoembes, the non-profit environmental organization that promotes the circular economy through the recycling of packaging, has launched the "EducaEnEco School Network" project in its public primary schools. .

This project has in turn the collaboration of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment of the Region of Murcia.

"EducaEnEco Schools Network" has allowed to expand the number of adhered centers for the 2017-2018 academic year, and thus making possible its launching this year in up to 227 schools in Murcia.

The objective of this project is to promote recycling in the day to day of primary schools and, for this, to place special emphasis on the involvement of the entire educational community (teachers, non-teaching staff and students), which are offers training and materials to facilitate the separation of waste through Ecoembes.

A consolidated program at the national level

Thanks to the 'EducaEnEco Schools Network', during the last year a total of 12,482 yellow and blue bins were distributed among the almost 800 schools in Madrid, Castilla y León, Canarias and Extremadura that participated in the first edition, as well as posters and other support materials.

The program also provides great added value thanks to the personalized advice that its team of environmental educators offers to each center, providing training to the entire educational community on its role to achieve a more sustainable school.

In this way, both professors and cleaning teams, bedeles or kitchen and dining staff receive guidance on how to integrate waste separation into their daily tasks.

The 'EducaEnEco Schools Network' is completed with activities adapted to the school curriculum designed to reinforce the habit of recycling among primary school students and to learn their environmental value.

Also, an Ecoembes educator makes several visits to the centers throughout the year to know in situ how the project is developing and resolve any doubts.

Once finalized, a diploma and a seal are awarded that certifies the good work and the predisposition of all members to improve their environment.
