The acting mayor, Mariola Guevara, signed this morning an agreement between the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, through the Presidential Council, and our City Council, which establishes the commitment for citizen participation between both administrations.
Next to Alhama have also joined other 13 new municipalities, counting with the presence of the mayors of Abanilla, Blanca, Campos del Rio, Cehegín, Fortuna, Pliego, Ricote, San Javier and Ulea, and with councilmen of Calasparra, Las Torres de Cotillas and Los Alcázares.
The Minister of the Presidency, María Dolores Pagán, said that the network now has "a total of 36 municipalities in the Region, and that in a few dates will be completed by other municipalities that are already processing their membership."
Membership in this network allows for joint activities between administrations aimed at promoting citizen participation in public life and implementing complementary actions in the area of transparency.
The municipalities will also have training in this field for local politicians and technicians and access to tools such as the Platform for Citizen Participation.
In the coming months, a new platform will be in operation, which will offer possibilities for contact and interaction with citizens and will allow the development of citizen participation instruments provided for in the Regional Citizen Transparency and Participation Act.
Among the uses of the new tool are the realization of processes of participatory deliberation and public consultations;
The reception of citizens' contributions and initiatives, which will find their way in it;
Reflecting current affairs and participation agenda at the local, regional and state levels;
And a section dedicated to the participation of Murcia residents abroad.
It will also have a specific space dedicated to publishing information and documentation on citizen participation generated by the different municipalities.
