The mayor of Alhama, new president of the Commonwealth Tourism Espuña (07/06/2016)

On Monday the Assembly Hall of Alhama hosted the plenary of the Commonwealth Tourism Espuña.

It is a joint organ belonging to the five municipalities of Sierra Espuña: Aledo, Pliego, Mula, Totana and Alhama de Murcia.

From now and throughout the year 2016 will serve as president of the Commonwealth Mayor of Alhama, Diego Conesa, who took office yesterday.

The main challenges ahead of the new president will be, on the one hand, the development of the tourism strategy Espuña for the coming years and, secondly, to strengthen the position of the Commonwealth within the group of INTEGRAL local action, the body responsible for obtaining European funds.

The president also invited the rest of mayors and all members of the city to work together to further develop participatory management of natural resources of Sierra Espuña, in coordination with the governing board of the Park and in line with the European Charter Sustainable tourism.

In the event the importance of all the municipalities of the Commonwealth support the historical claim settlement by the Autonomous Community, the road Alhama Mula, passing through the villages of Gebas, Fuente Librilla was also addressed and the Berro, fundamental for the development of Sierra Espuña.

The mayor encouraged his counterparts to invite the next full to groups and associations of farmers, hunters, environmental organizations municipalities with the aim of making this organ in a living and participatory body for the new stage.

In it, after the final judgment of the Supreme Court, the Barbary sheep will no longer be a central element in the strategy Espuña.

Finally, Mayor Alhama invited the mayor of Librilla, Maria del Porras Mar, who has formally applied to join the Commonwealth, to expose the benefits provided by your municipality and its complementarity with tourism in the whole Sierra .
