Through the County Employment Councils 2020-2021 program, financed with a grant from the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, tasks are being carried out to eliminate invasive alien species for yet another year.

, improvement of natural vegetation, pruning, removal of waste, maintenance and repair of trails, among others.Specifically, the pruning of the trees and palm groves is carried out, the removal of invasive plants such as the morsana (Zygophyllum fabago) and the pigeon pea (Nicotiana glauca) and the elimination of canes to favor the development of native vegetation, such as the taray .Work on the Las Salinas lagoons began in early November, under the supervision of two senior technicians in Forest Management, such as Javier Maestre and Alejandro Tagua.

They are carried out on these dates so as not to infer the reproductive periods of the birds that inhabit the lagoons, which since 2014 are included in the ZEPA (Special Bird Protection Zone) of the Guadalentín salt marshes, such as the White-headed Malvasia (Oxyura leucocephala ) listed in danger of extinction.

These tasks are part of the improvement and maintenance actions in municipal farms of environmental interest and natural spaces in the municipality that have been carried out for more than four years. The General Directorate of Natural Environment has put out to tender the project to recover the third lagoon to solve its waterproofing problems, with a budget of 266,833.83 euros, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union ( by 80%), and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia (20%).During this period, the works will also be carried out in La Alcanara, in the Umbría de Carrascoy municipal estate, in the Cabecera del Barranco de El Berro municipal estate, in the La Muela mountains and in the Gebas ravines.
