IU-green calls for a moratorium and scientific study before the implementation of 5G technology in the national territory (22/10/2020)

The municipal group of IU-Verdes in the Alhama City Council, presents, for debate and approval, the following motion:Motion on: "Request for moratorium and scientific study before the implementation of 5G technology in the national territory."STATEMENT OF MOTIVES In recent months, there have been citizen movements worldwide opposing the implementation of 5G. This expansion is taking place with a certain degree of opacity or simple lack of information to the public that causes doubts to grow as to whether or not it could be harmful to health.

To date, there is no evidence that 5G technology is going to pose a risk to health, however, in the face of the request for its implementation by telecommunications companies, municipalities must abide by current legislation based on technical and / or scientific criteria. One of the most worrying issues is the number of antennas needed to be able to service this new form of technology. There are different positions and while some sectors assure that 5G technology will have serious damage to health, other studies indicate that this is not the case and that there is no evidence that it will entail greater exposure than we already undergo daily with the data of our mobile devices, wifi, etc. Since it is a subject involved in controversy and in which until now no one has the absolute truth, we believe that it is necessary to study in depth and establish official scientific arguments that determine whether or not there really is a harm to health and that report with total transparency so that citizens have access to these studies. Therefore, in order to shed light on this issue, we raise the following proposed resolution to the plenary: AGREEMENTS FIRST: Urge the Government of the Nation to carry out a scientific-technical study at the national level that clarifies whether the radio frequencies emitted by 5G technology have negative effects on health, while urging to issue a moratorium for their implementation in the territory national. SECOND: The Alhama City Council undertakes to request an environmental evaluation of the 5G plans and projects that may be proposed in the municipality. THIRD: Commitment of the public administrations involved to report with total transparency about the possible location of all antennas and cells that could be installed. FOURTH: Transfer of this agreement to the Government of the Nation. Municipal Group of IU-Greens
