On October 3, World Ostomy Patient Day was celebrated.
These are patients who have undergone an ostomy, an artificial exit hole that a surgeon makes in the abdominal wall due to various diagnoses to facilitate the exit of waste products from the body. This world day has two main objectives: on the one hand, to help integrate all those affected by this operation; and, on the other hand, to sensitize society to the barriers that these patients have to overcome on a daily basis. In Spain there are more than 125,000 ostomized people, and a greater number of interventions are performed every day.For this reason, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) wants to make an appeal from the regional associations of these patients to the Spanish municipalities to participate, expanding this information and thus, that more and more people know about this case. The City Council of Alhama de Murcia wants to collaborate in making this reality visible and helping these patients to rejoin active life despite the limitations that the process entails. For more information, you can go to the web www.aoma.es or through the email Asociacion@aoma.es.
