PSOE: "The Popular Party's recipe is to indebt the Alhama City Council for life" (02/10/2020)

Felipe García: "You are hypocrites." The councilor for Finance criticizes the attitude of the right, which asks to lower taxes in exchange for mortgaging all the alhameños, following the model of the Autonomous Community, with a hole of more than 10,000 million euros The local government has rendered accounts of the 2019 budget year, where a meticulous task has been done to purify municipal accounting, within the socialist commitment to puncture the IBI bubble (Real Estate Tax) and Capital Gains (increase in the value of a good ).

The economic area of ??the Consistory has worked this last year in order to adopt a criterion of financial prudence for the item of doubtful balance, which are those taxes that the City Council has doubts that it can collect.

It mainly refers to appealed IBIs, appealed capital gains, taxes on companies in bankruptcy and failed contributions, among others. In the ordinary plenary session in September, the municipal Comptroller was present so that opposition groups could ask any question.

However, none of them approached him for the slightest consultation.

After the explanation of the Councilor for Finance, Felipe García, from the PSOE of Alhama we have the doubt whether it is because everything was clear to them or because they have no idea of ??public management.

We are inclined towards this second assumption, in view of the later manifestations of each party, full of inconsistencies. Once again we see how the current councilors of the Popular Party tiptoe through relevant issues in the Plenary, which is where the main decisions of general interest for Alhama are approved, giving the feeling that they do not care or prepare the content, neglecting its work of supervision of the Government team. These councilors, as happened in the last legislature, are remotely controlled by their party in Murcia, without decision-making capacity to defend the interests of the alhameños.

Which indicates that, possibly, they will discard them from one day to the next and none of them will repeat in the next elections, as we already saw in 2019 with their predecessors. The parties of the right have only sought in the past full confrontation, using families, groups and companies as a weapon, against a local government that has been working from the first minute of this pandemic to meet all the needs of the neighbors, even tending hand in hand with the consensus of all political groups.

The result of this management is the plenary agreement of April 24 that approved a package of extraordinary measures of 860,000 euros with the support of 19 of the 21 councilors of the Corporation. According to what has been seen in the past plenary session, the opposition councilors, following the indications of their regional parties, are not in the business of continuing to collaborate to respond to the needs of the residents of Alhama.

Despite this, from the Socialist Party we will continue to reach out to all groups to reach new agreements that seek the general interest of the people of Alhameños.

During these months, and despite the continuous rudeness and sticks in the wheels of the regional government of the Popular Party and Citizens, led by Vox, the PSOE has maintained institutional loyalty and its total willingness to work together between administrations, as it does with the Government of Spain. We ask that of the 74 million that the Autonomous Community has received from the State, allocate a part to the municipalities, which are what are assuming the needs and serving families, businesses and groups affected by the global health crisis.
