Campaign for the proper use of the mask: "In your encounters, do not come across the virus" (29/09/2020)

The Alhama de Murcia City Council, through its Department of Health, has launched a new campaign with the title 'In your meetings, do not meet the virus', with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of the proper use of the mask, especially in social gatherings. For this, a theatrical spot has been developed that represents two scenes of everyday situations:In the first one you can see a group of three friends, all of them wearing a mask, but one of them wears it under her nose at one point in the conversation; By calling her attention to this fact, appealing to a possible contagion to her loved ones, she reflects and puts her in her place. The second scene is made up of two friends who come to the terrace of a cafeteria, take off their masks as soon as they sit down, consume an aperitif and continue talking some time later with their mouths uncovered; A girl who passes by asks them why they don't wear it once they have stopped eating, their head down they agree and they put it on to continue chatting. The campaign has a double message: on the one hand, to educate the population that they must wear this element of protection correctly and, on the other, that its use is still mandatory in establishments, except for the time strictly necessary for the consumption of drink or food.Implicitly, the City Council wants to show its full support for the hospitality sector, one of the most affected by the pandemic crisis, promoting safe consumption in local establishments to prevent infections from continuing to increase and these businesses from being affected again by more restrictive measures.

At the same time, the aim is to try to stop the transmission of the virus in any social setting through the proper use of the mask, since fewer infections can also save lives. The data provided by the CARM Health Department indicate that more than 40 percent of infections in the Region are related to celebrations and family gatherings.

In addition, the Epidemiology Service has detected that the cases that occur are mainly in young people.

Specifically, 30 percent has occurred in people aged 15 to 28 years, and 38 percent from 30 to 49 years.

Likewise, it has been found that 38 percent of cases are asymptomatic in the Region. In general in the Region of Murcia, the limitation of authorized attendees to a maximum of 30 people at celebrations, weddings, baptisms, communions and the like, another of the sources of outbreaks in the regionLikewise, in wakes and funeral events a new limitation of 15 people maximum in closed establishments and 25 abroad has been agreed. In municipalities with a high cumulative incidence that exceeds a rate of 120 cases per 100,000 with scattered outbreaks, or a special situation of epidemiological increase that justifies them, the capacity in interior spaces of hotels and restaurants has been reduced to 40 percent.

In them, Salud also recommends people over 65 to limit their outings and to take extreme measures of social distancing and the essential use of a mask.According to the last part sent to this City Council by the Management of Area I of the Murcian Health Service, Alhama has three new cases in the last 24 hours this Tuesday, September 29, which increases the number of confirmed cases in the last 17 days to a total of 158.

If we look at the data from the last seven days, the figure drops to 80.

The number of people under follow-up in the last week is 231 and the total number of cases accumulated in the municipality since the beginning of the pandemic is 363.
