The Labor Project starts the 2020-2021 course with 100 participants, in its longest edition (22/09/2020)

The Councilor for Social Welfare, Nani Navarro, has informed together with the president of the El Candil association, Ginesa Rubio, and the social worker, Alicia Galera, of the actions that will be carried out within the Labor Project for this 2020-2021 academic year and take stock of the previous one. The Alhama de Murcia City Council, through Social Services, has been developing various actions to improve the employability of groups at risk of social exclusion.

In addition, through various initiatives, support is provided for activities by associations and groups of a social nature.

For its part, the collective for social promotion El Candil is a non-profit association founded in 1994, which carries out actions to care for people in vulnerable situations in the Bajo Guadalentín region. El Candil has been implementing the Labor Project, in coordination with the municipal center of Social Services of Alhama de Murcia, since November 2016, with the aim of improving living conditions, through access to employability of people and young people in a situation or risk of social exclusion residents of Alhama.

The aim pursued by the Labor Project is to improve the chances of employment for residents with special difficulties.

And the fundamental objective is to obtain a job through the development of an individualized insertion itinerary.

For this, the association and this City Council have signed a collaboration agreement to cooperate in these actions from a networking methodology, with comprehensive and lasting actions over time. The main results obtained by the El Candil collective during the 2019-2020 academic year in Alhama have been the following: ü52 people cared for (34 adults and 18 young people -under 30 years old-), with whom their individual itinerary for socio-labor insertion has been designed and developed.ü42 people participated in training courses (22 adults and 30 young people), in basic skills (social skills, job search techniques, equality, etc.), in technological skills and in occupational training (shop assistant, gardening, social and health care , etc.) In addition, many of them have done internships in companies.ü26 people (2 adults and 24 young people) have been guided and gotten them to take other complementary training (adult education, professional certificates, etc.)ü14 people have obtained a job thanks to the intermediation of El Candil with the business fabric of the municipality.

In addition, 234 people from Alhama have access to selective processes (labor intermediation), with 13 different companies. This project is financed by the European Social Fund within the framework of operational youth employment, and co-financed by CARM, through the Murcian Institute of Social Action.

The Alhama de Murcia City Council, although it does not have a direct subsidy, logistically supports everything that is required of it.Navarro wanted to thank the association "for carrying out this program as we consider it to be a very important complement together with the work carried out with Social Services and with the training and employment center". The director of El Candil, Ginesa Rubio, has stated that "we work very closely with the Social Services, as well as the rest of the social agents of the municipality.

The coordination between all of them means that we can reach the maximum number of beneficiaries and the can have the results obtained in a very complicated edition.

It is a unique program since all the agents are involved and among them, the business fabric.

"'Project Labor: a step towards employability' was born in 2007 with the aim of improving job opportunities and insertion with people with special difficulties.

It is a program that is financed 20% by the Murcian Institute of Social Action and 80% by the European Social Fund, in collaboration with the municipalities of Alhama, Totana, Librilla and Aledo.More than 800 people have participated in each of the activities carried out within the program, either in training or job orientation actions.

Previously, it worked jointly with all the people who could be eligible to participate, but in 2015 it was split into a special line for young people: 'Labor 2.0.

Youth Guarantee '.

As of that year, work intensifies in all municipalities in order to develop different actions, taking into account the different objectives and needs according to the population segment. The operational program is framed in the period 2014-2020, and this year will have a special edition that will last longer than the previous ones and that will intensify the work with young peopleThree years ago, after the high participation in Alhama, a direct service point was created in the municipality.

Until that time, the residents of our municipality traveled to Totana to carry out personal itineraries, personal attention or training.

Although there might be a scholarship or transportation assistance, it was difficult for them to move to another location every day.

For this reason, the City Council, in coordination with the IMAS, provides a space to be able to carry out the training sessions and attend the residents of Alhama and Librilla from Monday to Friday.

"These last two editions are being carried out in the municipality, without having to travel, unless they are more interested or are more likely to improve their itinerary than they can travel to Totana", explains Rubio. For more information on any training or action that is being carried out or is about to start, call 968 424 079, you can also do so by email through elcandil@elcandil.netIn 2019, 36 new people have been incorporated, of which 18 are from Totana, 14 from Alhama and 4 from Librilla.
