2021, date scheduled for the start of the works of the new emergency department of Alhama (10/02/2020)

This morning the mayor of Alhama, Mariola Guevara, and the Councilor for Health, Rosa Sánchez, have had a meeting with the Minister of Health of the Autonomous Community, Manuel Villegas, and the managing director of the Murcia Health Service, Asensio López.

The objective of the meeting was to transfer to this department the main needs of the municipality in terms of infrastructure and sanitary services.

The first of the issues has dealt with the request for the change of emergency, of regional competence, to the building attached to the health center.

The initial project of the Autonomous Community was insufficient - in terms of spaces - for the medical staff of the SUAP (Emergency Service of Primary Care) of the municipality.

The City Council had already repeatedly transferred to the Ministry its predisposition for it, indicate - and count on - all the space it needs to cover those needs.

López has informed that the beginning of the works is planned for next year (2021), once all the administrative procedures are carried out, including a project according to the needs that Alhama emergency professionals have requested to be able to provide the service in optimal conditions.

For this, next week there will be a meeting in the City Council with the architect of the Murcia Health Service responsible for the project and municipal technicians.

Another of the requests has been the extension of the cover that protects the ambulance in the parking lot of the 061 units (Emergency and Sanitary Emergencies Service), located on Antonio Fuertes avenue.

The Mayor has requested that the primary care service be provided in the afternoon at the health center of Alhama, to decongest the collapse of patients that currently exists and facilitate the consultation and reconciliation of family and work life, especially those who study or work in the morning shift.

From the City Council they have transferred to the Councilor the need to provide the health center with a surveillance service during consultation hours for greater control and security inside the facilities.

Guevara and Sánchez have consulted the possibility of enabling a medical service that covers the residents of Las Cañadas and Alhama County, given the large influx of residents in this district, especially in summer.

The counseling is committed to studying the viability of each of these requests.

Finally, the Mayor has informed them of the procedures being carried out by the City Council of Alhama with the General Directorate of Mobility to launch a regular bus line between our municipality and the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital.

While he has again requested the data of users and patients who travel daily to that health complex to adjust the transport service, in terms of schedules and number of trips, to the needs of the neighbors.

Information that will be transferred shortly, as indicated.
