The Murcia Health Service, with the collaboration of the City of Alhama de Murcia, reports one more year of the Breast Cancer prevention program.
Some 1,800 women, aged 50 to 69, will be cited by letter to take the test from February 4 to 21, 2020. Hours: from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. : 30 on Fridays.
Anyone who needs to change the day and time they have been assigned should contact the Health Center personally or by phone.
Women who have not had a mammogram for two years and do not receive the citation letter before February 1, 2020, should contact the Health Center or office to make an appointment.
To perform mammograms, a mobile unit will be moved to the municipality of Alhama de Murcia that will be located next to the Municipal Auditorium.
This prevention program dates from 1996, when the General Directorate of Public Health and Addictions of the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Spanish Association Against Cancer, the City of Alhama de Murcia and the Health Center, decides to start it in our municipality.
Since then, early detection is performed by mammography every two years to women between 50 and 69 years.
Its primary objectives are to reduce mortality from this disease and increase the quality of life of those who suffer from it.
