In the October plenary session of Alhama de Murcia, Lali Salas Peña, on behalf of his Municipal Group of Citizens, joined the motion rejecting violence in Catalonia.
Salas said that Citizens âshow our deepest respect for the Spanish judiciary;
we defend freedom of expression and freedom to manifest, as has happened here tonight. â
With this mention he made reference to hundreds of neighbors demonstrating at the City Hall's door to request the Government Team not to raise taxes taking advantage of its absolute majority.
Despite the various reasons for not carrying out this decision, both by citizens and by the rest of the opposition, and the neighborhood demonstration, the PSOE used its majority to raise taxes.
This issue was undoubtedly the protagonist of the evening, and the members of the Government showed their discomfort at this citizen concentration.
Salas said on the matter that: "There are two types of PSOE, the PSOE of Marlaska that says that in Catalonia there is no violence, and the PSOE tonight that has been scared by a group of neighbors with pans."
To this demonstration, the Councilor of Socialist Government, Antonio Caja, visibly altered, rebuked Citizens indicating what he had to say in that situation.
Given this, our councilor replied and declared that "we live in a country with freedom of expression and I can say what I want about this motion."
Likewise, the city mayor recalled that, as is customary in the plenary sessions, the councilors of the Socialist Government are lacking in this regard to the other councilors, laughing and making comments among themselves and, as is usual, the socialist Antonio García breaks the turn of speech and intervenes when deemed appropriate.
