The City Council of Alhama, represented by the Councilor for Social Services, Nani Navarro, took part this Wednesday May 29 at the closing ceremony and delivery of diplomas of the Labor Project of the 2018-2019 course, organized by the collective El Candil in Totana, where he has received a diploma of thanks for his involvement in the development of the program through several of its municipal areas, such as the Social Services Center, the Employment and Training Center and the PAE for Victims of Gender Violence.

The event was attended by institutional representatives of the municipalities of the Lower Guadalentín (Alhama de Murcia, Librilla, Totana, Mazarron and Aledo), as well as the Family and Equal Opportunities Counseling, with the assistance of its Secretary General.

In it, the main results obtained by the El Candil collective have been presented through the implementation of this program, during the period from June 2018 to May 2019:

166 people attended, with whom their individual itinerary of socio-labor insertion was designed and developed, of which 48 were from the municipality of Alhama.

108 people participated in training courses, among which were 20 residents of Alhama, who have trained in basic skills and trades, such as cleaning, hospitality, business dependence, etc.

In addition many of them have participated in training in real work environments.

53 people have obtained a job thanks to the intermediation of El Candil with the business network.

Of these 53 people, 11 are neighbors of Alhama, and 34 people from Alhama have been granted access to selective processes.

The purpose pursued by the Labor Project is to improve the possibilities of job placement for people with special difficulties.

And the fundamental objective is to get a job through the development of an individualized insertion itinerary.

During his speech, Nani Navarro recalled some of the most emblematic initiatives developed by the City Council of Alhama in recent years, to improve the employability of the most vulnerable groups, such as:

Bonuses in municipal taxes for companies that hire people at risk of social exclusion and / or disability.

Through this initiative, 21 people have been hired in the last year.

Incorporate clauses of a social nature in the hiring of public services, such as the maintenance contract for gardens and cleaning of buildings.

Thanks to this, specific training has been organized for vulnerable groups and there is a bag of available hours with a commitment to hire these groups.

It is collaborating with the Federation of Mental Health of the Region of Murcia in the development of the Euroempleo program, for the employment of people with severe mental illness.

At this time, the City Council has contracted through Euroempleo 2 people with serious mental illness, for which he has contributed € 18,000 approx.

of own funds, added to the € 12,900 provided by the Murcian Health Service.

Recently, the 'Entre Orillas' program has been launched, consisting of developing social and labor insertion activities, through a sheltered housing for people who have passed the treatment phase in the Therapeutic Community of Las Flotas Rehabilitation Center.

For this project to see the light, the City Council has given free of charge the use of a municipal property, located in the town of Alhama, to the Asoc Prosauces Las Flotas.

It has also been promoted, from the Social Services Center, the constitution of the Local Table for Improvement of Employability, which has recently had its constituent meeting, with a very satisfactory reception, and which will continue to be promoted with the aim of strengthening existing coordination mechanisms, as well as developing networking.

It involves all entities and organizations that are developing any type of activity in the area of employment and training for vulnerable groups (Social Services area, Employment area, Women and Equality area, SEF, Associations and NGOs, etc. .).

Likewise, the City Council of Alhama de Murcia has been collaborating with the collective El Candil, in the development of the Labor Project, since November 2016. Proof of this is the recent signing of the collaboration agreement between the Alhameño Consistory and El Candil.

From the Department of Social Services has actively participated in this program, all through providing material support and infrastructure.

As well as maintaining a close technical coordination, collaborating in the referral of participants and carrying out tasks of support and joint monitoring between the professionals of the social services center and those of El Candil.

Nani Navarro wanted to congratulate the team of the collective El Candil for the great work they are doing, thanks to their work in the municipality of Alhama they have obtained very satisfactory results in the year 2018-19.

He also congratulated the El Candil collective for its 25th anniversary, highlighting that for public institutions closer to the citizen, such as the City Councils, it is vital to have the support and closeness provided by the associative fabric present in the municipality.
