Alhama becomes the regional capital of martial arts this month (30/10/2018)

The Department of Sports, the Federation of Judo and Associated Sports and the Club Judo Alhama have enabled our municipality to be a reference for the organization of six martial activities, such as Judo, Aikido and Kendo for four consecutive weekends.

Aikido technification training

On October 13, the first Aikido regional training was held, which was jointly led by teachers Justo Palomares (Alhama) and José Valero (Totana), with the assistance of aikidokas from different municipalities.

Concentration of regional Judo teams

On Saturday, October 20, the autonomic teams of Judo from the junior category to the senior in two training sessions led by the local coach, David Romar.

Classroom of training and technification of Kata de Judo

On October 27 there was a training activity for black belt aspiring judokas and preparation for the participants of the 2018 Kata regional championship. The activity counted on thirty attendees and was directed by the Club Judo Alhama's teacher, Alfonso García.

Kendo Regional Championship

On the same day, on the track of the Adolfo Suárez municipal sports pavilion, the Kendo Regional Championship was held, which had a high technical level and served to determine the regional team that will represent our Autonomous Community in the Spanish Championship. It will be held on November 24.

The Kendo is the martial art that is specialized in the management of the saber ('ken').

The athletes in the competition wear a protective armor and a bamboo sword.

To the championship there were 27 participants, who had the following results:

Senior men's regional championship: 1 ° Jordi Odena;

2 Miguel Hernández;

3 ° Enrique Fernández and 3 ° David Belmonte.

Regional senior women's championship: 1st Lorena Rosagro.

Junior regional championship: 1 ° Álvaro Martínez.

The delivery of medals was presided over by the councilor of Associations, Eva Sánchez, the President of the Federation David Romar and the Director of Kendo Jesús Miguel Lusarreta.

Judo competition in Almoradí (Alicante)

In addition to the previous activities, the Club Judo Alhama also participated in others outside the municipality.

On the 27th a competition was held in Almoradí (Alicante) in which five Alhameños 'judokas' performed, under the tutelage of coach Natalia Gómez.

The results of our athletes were the following:

Delia García, 1st in the children's category +63 kilos.

Marta Manzano, 3rd in the children's category -57 kilos.

Rubén Molero, 2nd in the children's category -50 kilos.

Pablo Sánchez-Arévalo, 2nd in the children's category -38 kilos.

Jesus of San Pedro, 3rd in the category alevín -38 kilos.

Concentration for the Sambo World Championship

The weekend of October 27 and 28 took place a national concentration in Madrid, preparatory for the Sambo World Championship, in which three athletes from the Judo Alhama Club participated: Irene Díaz, Raquel Díaz and Natalia Herrero.

The Sambo is a sport of Russian origin, very similar to Judo, which is very practiced in the countries of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

The National Federation has published the call for the team that will participate in the World Cup, of which the sisters Irene and Raquel Díaz will be part.

Next activities

Next week Judo activities will continue in our town.

On the same day, on Saturday, November 3, the Senior Regional Judo Championship will be held in the Adolfo Suárez Pavilion in the morning and the 'El Zagalico' technical tournament in the afternoon, as part of the sports activities program of the 2018 Fair .
