Labor program 2017-2018 allows ten people to enter the labor market (09/06/2018)

The Councilor for Social Services, Felipe García, today explained the work that has been developing from this area, through the collaboration agreement with the social promotion group El Candil.

This association manages two lines of action, on the one hand the project 'Labor 2.0: Youth Guarantee' aimed at young people from 16 to 30 years and 'Labor: a step towards employability' for older people of this age range.

In Alhama, both programs have been developed, with a specific point of attention, since November 2016.

María Belén Lorca, work counselor of the El Candil association, has explained the development of the employability program aimed at people with difficulties in finding a job, which aims to improve their chances of entering the labor market through an individualized itinerary.

In the case of young people, it is focused on their reintegration into the educational-training system to achieve their professional objective in the future.

In Alhama, during this 2017-2018 academic year, 15 people over 30 and 10 young people participated.

Since 2007, more than 540 people have participated in any of the project's activities.

In Alhama, more than 40 people over 30 and a total of 18 young people.

Of them, seven adults and three young people have obtained employment.

In 2017, various social intervention actions were carried out, in collaboration with the municipal social services center, implementing an insertion itinerary through individualized tutoring.

Together with them other work prospecting tasks have been set up, which expose the participants to the reality of the labor market in the municipality, in order to adapt the actions developed to that reality.

A wide dissemination of the project has also been developed among the business fabric of Alhama to raise awareness and capture job gaps.

This prospecting work has also made possible the visit of participants to some companies or the practical apprenticeship of a trade related to the training that has been given this year, such as store and gardening, in collaboration with several companies in the municipality.

During this edition the program has carried out various training activities, such as basic personal skills, computer skills, auxiliary storage operations or training in nurseries.

The actions of the Youth Guarantee program have been developed in the neighboring town of Totana, and the young people of Alhama enrolled have had a transportation grant.

Jesús Amorós, counselor of the Youth Guarantee program, has described the basic training workshops that have been developed this course, where they have worked on the promotion and development of different skills.

They have also had lessons in gender equality and opportunities.

Currently training actions are being developed in hairdressing and cafeteria, pastry and confectionery services, which include internships in companies.

"For the technical team of Social Services is essential to have these complementary resources, which develop programs and activities," says Eva Leon, coordinator of the municipal center of Social Services.

"We receive people, we listen to their needs, we value their situation and we try to support them from a perspective that is as inclusive as possible, with all the existing resources from the city council itself, as well as regional or state."

Felipe García recalled that since 2016 the social aid system has been changed, carrying out informative and group training itineraries to improve self-esteem and enable social, personal and pre-employment skills.

"The support of El Candil is fundamental, because some of the people who have gone through these itineraries
