After the success of the first edition, the Alhama Basketball Club organizes again the campus 'More than basket', which will be its second edition.
The activities will be developed from June 25 to July 20 in the Sierra Espuña pavilion.
It is a space designed to take advantage of the vacation time of children from 6 to 12 years old and offer an alternative to parents to reconcile their work and family life.
The Councilor for Sports, Antonio José Caja, presented the initiative together with Sergio Chumillas, campus director, and José Pagán, coordinator of CB Alhama.
Pagan reported that "participating children are at an appropriate age to further develop their personality, skills and values."
This edition consists of a program that covers four weeks of summer and is structured in 20 sessions, composed by the practice of sports and the didactic offer, which ranges from psychology workshops, where children's emotions will be worked on. Different situations of stress and nerves, up to the education of young people on a healthy diet, specifically sugar.
In addition, it will have the visit of professionals from the Technological Center of the Industrial Park of Alhama, with whom they will experience different facets, such as that of scientist.
Theater and percussion will be present so that they can continue to improve their body expression and enhance social skills.
The Red Cross will also participate by teaching them the PAS behavior: protect, isolate and help, so that -in the event of an accident- the children know how to act.
The campus will have an animal protection workshop, where participants will work on the concepts of awareness, respect and solidarity.
It is competent and is divided into three parts: first they will receive the visit of the people in charge of the 'Peludines', then the children will work different crafts that later they will be able in different places of the market, where all the collected will go destined to the animal protector.
Finally, an excursion to the Mar Menor is scheduled to practice activities such as kayaking, sailing and surfing.
Chumillas has said that they will also "have a professional player visit, which will be a surprise" and that can be followed through the club's social networks.
Interested persons can still register, until May 31, by opting to one of the few free places left.
Antonio José Caja has informed that in June the works of replacement of the parquet floor of the Adolfo Suarez pavilion will begin, "a commitment of the government that supposes an investment of 100,000 euros and that the children and will be able to enjoy as of September".
