Alhama City Council has acquired some land next to the chapel of La Candelaria that will enhance the celebration of the traditional pilgrimage.
The mayor of Alhama, José Espadas, accompanied by the mayor of Parks and Gardens, Adela de San Nicolás and the Festivities, Maria Elena Marín, they would display the new property being cleaned so it can be used on 2 February, Candlemas Day.
Swords stated that the land of 10,000 square meters, will be adequate to provide the residents a wide and suitable for the traditional celebration.
He stressed that, in addition, it was met a longstanding goal of the Brotherhood of La Candelaria that looks to maintain this religious tradition.
The investment represents an amount of 100,000 euros and as noted the mayor of parks and gardens, recreational space will be conditioned with the pine plantation, construction of barbecues and tables for the new place is not only used during La Candelaria but to also be available to neighbors the rest of the year.
Marin focused on the feast of La Candelaria and encouraged residents to participate in the party since, well, this year there will be more room for enjoyment.
