The extraordinary plenary session held in November on Tuesday had two very important matters.
The first, unanimously approved by all the groups, was the presentation of the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy "Alhama para Vivirla" in the third call for the application for financial assistance from the European FEDER program for an amount of 5 million euros.
The second point, and no less important, had to do with the start of the dossier for the study of drinking water management when the current contract expires in 2019, one of the main commitments of the current PSOE government in Alhama.
The proposal was taken to the highest local body based on the consensus expressed by all the political groups, which agreed to convene the extraordinary plenary session to discuss it and approve it in their case and begin the work to be done in this area.
All this under the umbrella of the report of an external consultant that analyzed the three possible options for the management of this resource when the contract with the current company ends: public, private or mixed.
On the table there are two proposals: one from the company that offers to renew another five years plus the contract (until 2024) in exchange for 6 million euros, something that would be done automatically if the plenary session does not "denounce" it, less, a year before.
And the second, the study of the consultant to start working all the groups in the most profitable option for the municipality.
Up to here everything normal.
Instead of dealing with seriousness and with data the point to discuss, the PP spokeswoman, Ana Fernandez, was dedicated to give blows below the waist to the Mayor, "you are going to Murcia" was his most repeated phrase, in that sickly obsession that the Popular Party has with Diego Conesa since the PSOE won the elections in Alhama.
"He has not even read the proposal, but has read a text prepared with a succession of nonsense," says the Councilor for Infrastructure and Public Services.
A proposal that has nothing to do with the PP that took full in August 2013, to renew the contract another 19 years in exchange for works valued at 4.6 million euros, to be made on the eve of local elections.
And he did it without any previous information to the neighbors or to the rest of the political groups, counting on the negative reports of the municipal technicians and the secretary, and that even so they took to the Legal Council of the Region of Murcia, believing that, being a political organ, I was going to agree with them.
On the other hand, the Council issued a blushing report in which it drew the colors of the previous government team for that maneuver, considering it "inappropriate and unjustified", as we denounced in issue 2 of the newsletter Cosas de mi Pueblo (http: // www.psoealhama.es/gestion-publica).
Mrs. Fernandez asked for a third turn of the word to follow again and again with the soniquete, jumping to the bullfighter the norm that all the groups were given at the beginning of the two-shift legislature.
And still claiming as a mantra "explanation of vote, explanation of vote", when Mr. Secretary has clarified by active and passive that this concept is only used when a group has voted in a sense (for or against) a proposal in the informative commissions and decides to change the direction of the vote in the plenary session.
Well, they still do not understand it.
What times those in which the popular ruled and the rigidity was such that they did not allow a single intervention of more to the opposition, or give the floor to the neighbors at the end of the plenary session.
Once again it was clear that the popular only believe in the alternation of power when it is among themselves, remove one of their own to put another-yes, always to finger.
But that govern other political forces different from their own consider it something anomalous, a defect of the system.
Sixteen years in power prove it, that perfectly could have been one hundred.
Of those, the last legislature of the popular ones in the matter of investments in the municipality is summarized exclusively in the paving of the Postigos street, and we all know the result.
In fact, when the Popular Party councilors talk about investments, it is important to remind them what is being done in this legislature to renew the sanitation network and especially the potable water network in some neighborhoods, after 20 years of abandonment of the popular ones.
And it is not a question of a few weeks or months, but we will have to continue with the rest of the municipality during the next legislatures.
In the eagerness to try to destroy the image of the current Mayor, they do not realize that they drag on the carpet not only to the person, but to the position and to the entire institution, an institution that one day they will have to represent.
Because the Socialist Party does believe in political alternation.
The popular, eager for revenge for losing privileges that they believed proper by right, have not hesitated these two and a half years to use the most dirty practices to end the PSOE, from the shameful full of investiture until today, where we all know already that people close to his candidacy are behind the creation of trolls and false profiles where they hide with impunity to insult and defame on social networks instead of showing their faces.
Or lying in the arms of individuals who claim to defend the interests of certain groups, when in fact they only defend their own.
In short, the Popular Party of Alhama has been unknown for two and a half years, without a single proposal for improvement for the municipality and obsessed only with destroying the current government to regain power again.
And for what?
