This past October the restoration works in the Enrique Tierno Galván auditorium of the municipality have been completed.
Its conditioning proved to be the most voted initiative in the first edition of participatory budgets, with an initial amount of 40,000 euros for the improvement of the structure of the stands, the replacement of seats, the beautification of the area of ​​toilets, dressing room and canteen , among others.
Although the objective was to undertake the reform in several phases, it has finally proceeded to the comprehensive arrangement of the stands due to the structural deficiencies they presented, having to expand the planned item by more than 110,000 euros.
The first improvement was carried out in July 2017, when the City Council acquired 500 new resin and aluminum chairs to replace the old ones, in cream color, very deteriorated.
The purchase of this furniture meant an investment of 11,174 euros to the Consistory.
This 2019 the remodeling of the auditorium's grandstand structure has been executed.
After the technical review of the same, it was detected that it suffered a significant deterioration, especially the concrete of the slabs of the stands along with its reinforcements (not being so in the concrete and beams that make up the pillars).
The damage was caused by a corrosion of the structure, caused in turn by the filtration of rainwater, triggering the appearance of cracks and subsequent detachment of the outer concrete layer, which made it not suitable for use .
Once this situation was confirmed, two possible solutions were opened: the total demolition of the stands and the installation of mobile phones or the remodeling of them.
Finally, the Urban Planning area opted for its repair, taking into account the cost of the work, since the economic cost of the first option was much higher, to which we would have to add the inconvenience and noise caused to the neighbors with these jobs .
The actions that have been carried out have consisted of the installation of metal reinforcements anchored to the healthy concrete of the beams.
To hide this metal structure and provide the auditorium with a more modern look towards the public thoroughfare, metallic panels in bronze tones have been implemented.
Regarding the filtration of rainwater, cleaning, sanitation and treatment of the surfaces of the stands have been carried out with products that guarantee the infiltration of these waters, a tube has also been added to the railing that reduces the gap between the bottom and pavement.
As for the outer part that is not going to be covered with the panels, all of it has been renovated replacing glass and painted walls, among other actions.
The exterior lighting has been renewed by LED systems and beacon pilots have been installed throughout the stands to ensure safety, especially during nighttime use.
This last phase has been carried out in a period of two months, with a cost for the City Council of 143,169.45 euros.
The final cost of both phases has been 154,000 euros, finally contributing almost four times the initial amount committed in participatory budgets.
