Sign up as a volunteer to help Los Alcázares neighbors! (16/09/2019)

The City of Alhama de Murcia launches a free coach service available to those who wish to volunteer in the cleaning of the municipality of Los Alcázares after the passage of DANA.

This was reported by the Mayor, Mariola Guevara, along with the Councilor for Security and Citizen Protection, Felipe García, and Civil Protection coordinators in Alhama, Luis Reina and Lali Díaz.

The bus will leave from the fairgrounds from Wednesday to Sunday at 8:00 in the direction of Los Alcázares and will return at 19:00 to Alhama.

The houses and streets of the Los Alcázares municipality are currently full of unusable furniture and belongings.

Hundreds of furniture, appliances and other personal belongings are completely shattered and covered in mud.

The call for solidarity and requests for help are being made from different parts of the Region, where the collaboration of volunteers is requested and those who want to help in the cleaning work.

Entire families have joined in the cleaning of the houses, which will continue over the next few days.

Yesterday there were eight agents of the Local Police of Alhama, plus five today, who have voluntarily moved to Los Alcazares to reinforce the night shift.

This endowment is added to the one that moved last Friday, where eight other Red Cross volunteers went to Santomera to help in the evacuation of the residents of the district of El Siscar, after making the Alhama City Council available to the affected municipalities .

From the Consistory we call on all the residents of Alhama who want to collaborate in providing assistance to the victims of the damage caused by the rains of these last days.

Those interested must be over 18 years old.

The City Council will provide gloves, water, snacks and fruit.

It is advisable for each volunteer to wear water or safety boots, appropriate clothes for cleaning and other change clothes, in addition to a backpack.

This service is coordinated and supervised by Civil Protection, which will accompany the volunteers.

The Mayor explained that "they will not only focus on that area (Los Alcázares), but that the Alhama city council is predisposed to collaborate in all the damaged areas."

The Councilor for Security and Citizen Protection wanted to "thank public officials for the preventive work that has been done, which has allowed us to be calm in Alhama."
