Includes the canalization of the ravine, access for vehicles, pedestrian areas, bike lanes and green spaces

The mayor of Alhama, Mariola Guevara, the Town Planning Councilor, Antonio José Caja, and the mayor of Infrastructure and Public Services, Antonio García, visited today the progress of the construction of the new road in the neighborhood of Los Dolores, whose completion is scheduled for April 2019.

The cost of the works is 900,000 euros.

The City Council finances most of the project, and approximately 35-40% (around 350,000 euros) is paid by the owners of the adjoining land.

The head of works, Ana Saorín, explained that "several proposals were made to see how to best integrate the ravine and how not to alter the medium, and finally the solution was chosen to recover the fixed route by using materials as much as possible. possible natural ".

For this reason, gabion walls can be seen throughout the entire construction, instead of the use of concrete.

The road is built parallel to the rambla, it is a new section in the northwest, which connects with the two units of action that take place in the neighborhood: El Praíco, which will connect the Road Education Center with the back of the Miguel de Cervantes garden, joining Calle la Sagunto with Avenida Simón García;

and Ángel Nieto, as the main door of the future Valle de Leiva institute.

The project is not conceived as an isolated work, but is framed within the strategic plan of the local government for the recovery and transformation into one of the oldest and historically Alhama neighborhoods.

The works include the demolition of two warehouses, old dryers of peppers, that "will improve the urban landscape and the quality of life of all the neighbors," said Caja.

The Mayor highlighted the need to improve accessibility in the neighborhood "where everything flows better, people can walk, cars circulate and improve security."

These works continue the project started in Los Dolores with the semi-pedestrianization of Parricas street, where "not only we improve aesthetically, but we have solved many problems of patrimonial claims to the City Council for the continuous losses of water and humidity in homes," he indicated. Mariola Guevara

Regarding the construction of the new Valley of Leiva IES, Guevara stressed that "the City Council has made all the necessary procedures and given all the facilities for once and for all the government of the Region of Murcia run that center so desired."

What will be a reality in a few weeks is the beginning of the works of the third sports hall of Alhama, located in El Praíco, which will service the institute during school hours and will be for municipal use the rest of the time.
